Stressless Camping Rally: Making New Friends in Quartzsite

Stressless Camping Rally: Making New Friends in Quartzsite

January 29th thru February 4th

January 29: Jim and Barb left this morning and we broke camp and stopped and dumped tanks, trash, filled fresh water tank then came out to Roadrunner for the get together. Had a fire and everyone got a chance to hang out and visit.

January 30: Tony and Peggy recorded their podcast today with everyone bringing their favorite kitchen gadget or least used gadget. Dinner potluck and campfire time.

January 31: After a potluck breakfast has a quiet time around camp. Took Chloe for a morning walk and early afternoon went and got water, dropped trash and filled empty propane tank. Then met up with rest of group at Beer Belly’s for a drink before going to Silly Als for supper. Returned back to camp for the night plus watched a bit of tv.

February 1: Everyone got together for breakfast again this morning. With rain coming in and being cold and windy not much outdoor activity today. Bryan came out to repair chips on windshield of fellow camper. Elizabeth rode along with him so we got to visit before we all went into the VFW for a few drinks plus getting Bryan’s and Dawnielles membership squared away. Met up with other campers at The Yacht Club for dinner then stopped by Rick and Dawnielles to pickup Amazon packages and visit for a few minutes before heading home for the day. Watched a bit of TV then off to bed.

February 2: Windy day today following a rainy night last night that kept us cooped up. Having a potluck dinner tonight to be followed up with Bingo at the QIA. Added water to the trailer, only 14 gallons so will see how far that gets us. Cindy won one bingo game which covered our buy in plus an extra $14. Rock and Dawnielle joined the Stressless crew for the bingo fun.

February 3: Today was a fun day. We went up to the desert bar with the whole crew here at the Stressless Camping get together. Also joining us were Danielle, Rick, and Brian. Had a good time not only seeing the sites and visiting and drinking but also enjoyed a stop at Walmart and doing some quick shopping. At the end of the evening, we had another potluck here at the campsite. After dark it was a little too cold to stay outside, so we went back to the trailer and watched some movies.

February 4: Today was the last day of the Stressless Camping get together. We finished it off with a potluck and a fire. Good weather today to, sunny and warm and not terribly windy. We went into town and had lunch at the Mexican restaurant for lunch. New folks showed up with 3 dogs that they don’t keep on leash and tend to be troublesome. Overall a good day and a good get together. 2024:7-Stressless Camping Rally

We began our adventure from the Plamosa Road 14 day camping area, finishing hooking up and heading out around 10:30AM. We did not do any preloading the night before, with doing the complete breakdown of camp, loading of all items plus hooking up all on the morning of departure. This not so fun, stressful morning led both Cindy and I to comment that we would both prefer to preload the day before leaving in order to make moving day less stressful. From Plamosa Road, our next stop on the day’s adventure took us to La Posa South LTVA, where we dumped our holding tanks, filled our fresh water and disposed of our trash. This year we did not purchase the season pass for the LTVA’s, but are rather using the BLM water pass which we purchased in the Senator Wash area last year in March. The advantage of the water pass, one may camp on the water at Senator Wash and one area south of Blythe for 14 days at a time. The biggest advantage of the pass is that a person can make use of the facilities provided in the long term areas. The disadvantage of the pass is that one is not able to camp within the LTVA boundaries on any of the LTVA’s without the purchase of a 2 week or season pass for the LTVA’s.

Upon completion of these chores, we headed for the Roadrunner BLM 14 day camping area, where the Stressless Camping Rally was to be held. We arrived at our destination and proceeded to set up and unhook. Today, we believed our electronic leveling device, which yet again proved to be not very accurate, causing us to have to re-hook and re-block to actually get the trailer level. We accomplished true level using a good old-fashioned level. With the setup of the trailer and camp completed we went over and joined our fellow rally attendees in chatting as well as consuming adult beverages, It made for a wonderful afternoon which was quickly over giving way towards darkness. At which time all the folks in attendance grabbed their evening meal before all heading out to the campfire ring for a nightly fire and more debauchery. Cindy was elected to be the fire master for the event, which she did a great job of. During the rally, mother nature shared cloudy cool weather, windy days and nights, as well as sunny but cool days. The weather wasn’t extreme, so every one in attendance were able to enjoy a majority of the event time outdoors, visiting with one another. That is, with the exception of the folks that were required to work during the day. We were able to have dinner and breakfast potlucks throughout the event, with all folks providing large amounts of delicious food. I must say that we had a lot of very good cooks in attendance. I am pretty sure that both Cindy and I put on weight during the event. Tony and Peggy did the recording of their weekly podcast during the event, with all attendees bringing either their favorite or least favorite kitchen gadget and showcasing it for the podcast. I believe that Tony and Peggy also did a video recording of the podcast and put it up on YouTube. On the same theme, there was a potluck dedicated to attempting to cook one’s entree for the potluck in the 17” ovens that are supplied with these trailers when a person purchases their rig. The food turned out great, proving that with enough ingenuity, a person can make tasty morsels in these small ovens. On the final weekend of the rally, all attendees that wished to, went into the QIA for Friday night bingo. Cindy won one of the games that evening, winning enough money to cover our entry fees for the evening. Tony was in his usual form, sharing puns delivered with perfect timing, causing laughter to ring out during the evening. On Saturday, we loaded up in multiple vehicles and went to the Desert Bar. Cindy and I picked up Rick, Dawnielle, and Bryan, and we all rode out together. I believe that everyone enjoyed their time and did comment that they would enjoy going back to the bar if the opportunity arose. On Monday everyone loaded up and hooked up heading out towards their next destinations. RUMBLE LINKS Embed code Monetized embed code
