Panguitch Hitching Post: Week 1
Saturday, August 31:
- We pulled out of Joe's place at about 3:30 this morning on our way up to Panguitch. The roads were nice and quiet all the way up through Flagstaff and into Page. We fueled up in Page at the Maverick store there before continuing on our way to Panguitch. We arrived here at the Hitching Post somewhere around 11 AM or just before that and got ourselves parked and set up. We went over to Ace and grabbed some plumbing parts for the trailer so that we could leave the water hooked up. While we were there at Ace, we found out that they were having a drawing today so we got ourselves entered in for that. Cindy went over and visited with the sisters, and I stayed here and watched some football and kicked on the laptop. Somewhere in there, I fell asleep and caught a few minutes of a nap at least. Back at 5 PM for the drawing, and we ended up winning a set of binoculars and Miss Elizabeth ended up winning herself a shotgun.
- We got back over here to the Hitching Post at about 5:30 PM and joined them for a dinner of ribs, etc. Afterwards, they are having a fire and we will try to stay as long as we can till we get too sleepy.
- The weather here is way nicer than what we have been dealing with in Arizona for the last month and a half. It's nice to actually be comfortable instead of so hot that the sweat is just rolling off of you.
- We got a chance to see Linda Miller this afternoon over at Ace when they were doing the drawing, and unfortunately, she is not looking so darn good. Hopefully, what they are doing for her will start to have a positive impact for her.
Sunday, September 1:
- Started the morning with a cup of coffee, enjoying the cool weather with a temperature of 48 degrees. It's a welcome change from the extremely warm temps that we were dealing with in Arizona. With that cup of coffee we sat outside in the sunshine warming up, till Ed came by on his first round of the day. I went out and took a look at the fencing that is being installed, and got the low down from Ed on what is planned for projects to finish out the season. Not only is the new fence going in, but we will be tearing down the fence that is beside us, saving all of the wood on pallets for future projects. The existing fence will be replaced with the new vinyl fence that is being installed elsewhere in the park. I will also need to go through all of the pedestals in the lower section and rewire the 30-amp breaker onto phase B. There are also some projects for the front of the park that are being taken on, plus all of the pots in the lower section have to be dumped out and filled with potting soil. I guess there is also a manhole in the NW corner of the lower section that has to be raised up and some rock work on the bank by the storage building.
- While Cindy started laundry I got the clothesline out of the truck and put up on the ladder for her. I followed that up with a shower. I then worked on site of my training videos and eventually ended up down at Bryan's rig visiting with all the sisters and Bryan. We had lunch which was tacos down at Bryan's before coming back up to our trailer and moving pics around on the computer in preparation for putting videos together. I also got the footage off the Insta360 camera and the new Panasonic camera to the computer.
- The sisters came over to the house to visit and as I was on the phone with Larry I stepped outside to finish that conversation, plus called and talked with Alan and Joe. After finishing the phone calls I came back inside and joined the visiting and snacking. After the sisters (Dianne, Linda, Elizabeth) went home for the evening I caught the journal up and worked on the rest of my daily list before calling it a day.
