Verde Valley: Post Connex Move
Tuesday, August 27:
- So we were up early this morning to get the trailer ready to move over to the Verde from Aaron's place in Chino Valley. We had scheduled to have the Connex moved over to the Verde by a gentleman that had moved a Connex for Brandon earlier this year. However, the fellow never touched base with us, and when we finally got a hold of him claimed that he had a flat tire and that he couldn't get a new one until tomorrow. That did not sit well with us so we found another tow company via Aaron and got them to come out and move the Connex.
- We got the trailer pulled over to Joe's place and set up, by around 9:45 AM. We then ran down to Chase Bank here in Camp Verde and got some cash out to pay the driver that was going to deliver the Connex this fine day. After getting the cash, we stopped by Wendy's and had an early lunch and then I brought Cindy back to the trailer and dropped her off. I was supposed to run over to Aaron's place in Chino Valley and meet the driver that was going to bring the Connex over to our place here at Ben's. However, before I could ever get that done, Cindy called to say that the Connex was already here in the Verde, so I turned myself around and hauled butt back to Ben's place and we then proceeded to get all the heavy stuff, such as the bench, the table saw, and all of the boxes moved into the Connex while we had the help of all the grandsons plus Ben and Joe.
- Ben and Missy made dinner for all of us and we enjoyed some time visiting before we all called it a day and headed off to bed.
Wednesday, August 28:
- After a somewhat rough night of sleeping, we finally got ourselves up and moving and drank some coffee by around 7 AM this morning. Both of us were extremely tired and lazy after the long run that we've been through, so sat about the house kind of messing around until Cindy decided to go shopping at around 11:30 AM. I in the meantime worked a bit on some of my training videos that I have purchased as well as attempting to get a start getting this journal to have all of our information in it.
- We got an email from Susy with all the information and quote on doing the roofing material on Dad's old house that allows us to spray it on instead of having to replace all the shingles. I sent that over to Larry and he will have to decide what he is going to do.
- Cindy went grocery shopping and I spent that time working on getting this journal setup and going. I grabbed a shower and when Cindy got back, I created lunch, cooking 2 tenderloins and Ranch Beans. For cooking the tenderloins I got out the big round fry pan, put some butter in the bottom of the pan and let it melt. In the meantime I put some powdered mesquite smoke and SPG on the steaks and let that soak up while waiting for the pan to get hot. I seared the steak on one side and then flipped and put SPG and powdered mesquite smoke on the seared side of the steak. Then I added some Lawry's Teriyaki sauce and some water into the pan and covered with a lid. I continued to cook the meat turning it every 5 minutes until it reached an internal temperature of 135 degrees. It turned out really good, making this a recipe that I wouldn't mind repeating again. After finishing lunch I continued work on this journal. We are planning to go and watch Maylyn play volleyball at 4 PM.
- We went over to the Camp Verde grade school and watched Maylyn's volleyball team play a match. They had a rough day out and ended up losing 2 games in a row. It's one of the neat things in that even though Maylyn is doing home school she is able to compete in the school system's athletic program.
- Following the game we ran over to Bashas grocery store and Cindy grabbed a few items that she forgot this morning which she needs for making the spaghetti salad for Ben and Missy on Friday. We watched a bit of TV this evening before Cindy went to bed. I stayed up for a bit after she went to bed and watched a couple of overloading videos on YouTube.
Thursday, August 29:
- I woke up just after 5 this morning and finished up yesterday's journal entry and started today's entry. Hopefully I will get this figured out so that I can use all of the features that it has to offer. Went on to get some of my educational videos watched.
- We went over to Ben and Missy's and got all of our stuff put into the Connex. It actually fit pretty well and the only thing that might have made it better would be to have another shelf in there. We got the trailers parked back where they belong and visited with Missy for a bit before heading out.
- Leaving Missy's house we went to Circle K and fueled the truck plus grabbed some nicotine pouches for me. From there we went to Bashas and did some grocery shopping, ate lunch at Crusty's Pizza and then came back to the trailer. Cindy watched some movies and I worked on my BeAVideographer teaching. Took Maylyn to her volleyball practice and visited with Teagan for a little while and then he went and picked Maylyn from practice. Spent rest of evening watching football and relaxing.
Friday, August 30: We caught our breath this morning, just doing a few things around the house and resting. Later in the day just after noon, we went down to Ben's place and hung out there visiting until it was dinner time. Ben created smash burgers for supper, and Joe and Teagan and Maylyn came down and joined all of us for dinner. We got back to Joe's after eight and did the pack up and hook up, short of disconnecting the power so that we could tomorrow morning. We managed to get into bed around 10:30 and are shooting to get up at three so that we can get on the road as early as possible on our way back up to Panguitch.
